Trump Accuses Iran of "Foolish Violation" After Drone Strike in Strait of Hormuz
U.S. President Donald Trump accused Iran of a "foolish violation" of their ceasefire agreement after a drone struck the Singapore-flagged cargo ship Ever Lovely, owned by Evergreen, in the strategic Strait of Hormuz. While U.S. forces intercepted three drones, a fourth caused minor damage to the vessel's upper deck, though no casualties were reported and the ship safely continued its journey. The strike followed threats from Iran's IRGC claiming territorial sovereignty over the vital waterway and warning unauthorized transits. In immediate response to the attack, the UN’s International Maritime Organization (IMO) paused its massive operation to evacuate over 11,000 stranded sailors, heavily threatening the fragile 60-day truce that had briefly reopened the critical oil shipping lane.
